Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How is Cumulative CGPA calculated from Semester SGPAs?
Cumulative CGPA is computed by multiplying each semester's SGPA by its total earned credits,
adding all credit-weighted points together, and dividing by the total cumulative credits earned
across all completed semesters:
CGPA = Σ(SGPA × Semester Credits) / Total Cumulative Credits
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) measures performance in a single specific
academic semester.
CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) represents the overall academic
performance accumulated across all completed semesters from Semester 1 up to the current term.
How do I convert CGPA to Equivalent Percentage?
Under standard 10-point guidelines, Equivalent Percentage = CGPA × 10. For
example, a CGPA of 8.40 equals 84.00%. Under 9.5x schemes,
Percentage = CGPA × 9.5,
or offset schemes use Percentage = (CGPA - 0.75) × 10. You can select your
preferred grading scheme preset above.
What CGPA qualifies for First Class with Distinction?
In most academic grading systems, a CGPA of 7.50 or above qualifies a student
for First Class with Distinction, provided all subjects were passed in the first
attempt without backlogs. A CGPA between 6.50 and 7.49 is awarded First Class.
